Peer Assessment

The goal of having peer assessment is to motivate groups members to maintain their quality and quantity of contributions. Assessment would be conducted every two weeks. The biweekly arrangement was set with the consideration of progress making. The members could keep track with their performance as a motivation for future inputs.

We have compared and contrasted 4 different models of peer assessment. After comparing their pros and cons, we eventually choose the model by Robert Conway and David Kember. This model has the advantages of ease of maintaining fairness and ease to understand and calculate.

In the model, there are 2 dimensions: quality and quantity.  For quality metrics, we were asked to rate their fellow team members' contribution to each task on a scale from 1 to 5. The ratio of our own score to the average score would be the quality weighting.   For quantity metrics, number of hours with input have been recorded in the programme. Similarly, the ratio of our input hours to the average input hours would be the quantity weighting.

The combined score is the product of quality weighting and quantity weighting. 1 stands for the average threshold.
